Endowment Funds

Forest Hills has two funds which people can contribute to as a way of ensuring the future for others. You are invited to join these committed efforts to ensure that our church continues to provide a house of worship and help extend the hand of Christian fellowship and support to those in need. Gifts may be in the form of cash, real estate, securities, trusts, personal property, or life insurance.

Checks can be made out Forest Hills UMC and marked for a particular fund or made out to the fund directly.

Permanent Endowment Fund This fund was established in 2001 to meet the needs of Forest Hills in years to come. It operates under the authority of the Charge Conference and Church Council of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Gifts made to this fund are invested with the United Methodist Foundation of Tennessee, and earn income used for purposes designated by the donors.

Gifts are assigned to one of the following:
Mission Fund: Work beyond the local church and community.
Capital Fund: Maintenance, improvements, amd construction of facilities.
General Fund: For special needs determined by the Church Council.
Restricted Funds: Specific purposes designated by donors.

Memorial and Honorarium Fund Gifts in memory or honor of an individual go into the Memorial and Honorarium Fund and are used to pay for equipment or building projects at the church. As an example, $23,000 of these funds were used for improvements in the sanctuary including the addition of video projection during worship services. Gifts can also be designated to a specific area such as garden fund, drama ministry, operating budget, etc.

The fund is administered by the Memorials and Endowment Committee.
