Children's Ministry

Our Vision

The children's ministry of Forest Hills United Methodist Church provides opportunities for spiritual growth to inspire and equip children in building a foundation of faithfulness, which encourages acceptance of themselves and others as children of a loving God, creating life-long disciples of Christ.

About Forest Hills UMC Children's Ministry:

Nursery: Forest Hills UMC offers child care for children through four years old during all worship services and T.O.W.N. on Wednesday nights.

Sunday School: Age appropriate Sunday School classes for: Preschool-Kindergarten, First-Second Grade, Third-Fourth Grade, and Fifth-Sixth Grade.

T.O.W.N.:
Children's Program:
- Preschool-4th graders come and have an interactive Bible lesson each week!
- Tween Class - 5th-6th graders experience a special time of learning geared just for them!
- Children's Choir- 4 year olds through Fourth Graders are invited to join in this fun group as they raise a joyful noise each week with song, tone chimes, and/or music theory.

Special Events:
Vacation Bible School
Offered each year for children in the church and community. Program times vary each year.

June 27-July 1, 2011 The theme is "PandaMania: Where God is Wild about You." VBS program is for 4 years - 6th grade. Registration will be available on this website later in the spring. Keep checking here for more information. We hope to see you there!

Confirmation
Confirmation is a time for our young people to take their faith on as their own. Each 6th grader has the opportunity to participate in confirmation, a 12 week process of Christian education where they explore the foundations and traditions of Christianity and of United Methodism.

3rd Grade Bible Sunday
On this special Sunday our 3rd graders recieve their new Bible from the church during worship. This bible is one that is child-friendly and one they will be excited to read and explore. Following this Sunday, the children are invited to participate in the 3rd Grade Bible Retreat where they learn more about the bible, how to use it and why it is important to us as Christians.

Bible Adventure Retreat
Offered each year for children who have just received their Bibles, this is an exciting hands-on opportunity for children to dig into the wonders of God's Holy Word.

Easter Egg-stravaganza
This special Easter event is one that the whole family can be involved in. This time of celebration is filled with fun and educational moments and always involves an Easter egg hunt as well.

Children's Sabbath
Children's Sabbath is a joyful and exciting worship experience in which the children of FHUMC lead all of us in worship. This is one Sunday that we all look forward to and never forget each year.

ParentLink is a monthly publication of Forest Hills Children's Ministry containing ideas on teachable moments, reviews of current media, ideas for the whole family, a calendar of what the FHUMC family and children will be involved in this month, and other useful tools.
